The Spring 2016 Wine Club Selection awaits you.

The vineyards are dormant in the winter and are unaffected by the elements.  We schedule our Spring Wine Club to coincide with bud break, when the vines wake up from their winter slumber; their buds swelling with the promise of another good harvest. It’s wonderful to see the vernal pond of Deerfield’s Wetlands plentiful with water after the heavy rainfall in January. Our hills are a luxurious shade of green and blossoms are appearing everywhere. With this renewal of life, we, at Deerfield, renew our pledge to make the best wine we can, flavorful and delicious, clean and healthful, with sensitivity and respect for our environment.

The Deerfield’s Spring Wine Club Shipment, selected especially for you by Winemaker Robert Rex, includes the release of our 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Rancho Salina Vineyard. This wine truly reflects Robert’s dedication to excellence and the dedication of the grower, Dom Paino. Deerfield Ranch Winery continues its commitment toward organic and sustainable farming, clean and green winemaking practices, and an uncompromising passion for our craft.

2014 Sauvignon Blanc
Sonoma Valley

Two Bottles

We have been making Sauvignon Blanc from Jon Peterson’s Vineyard for over 30 years. They are the most flavorful grapes you can imagine. Our goal is to capture this flavor in a glass. We cold ferment the juice slowly in tanks to retain its freshness and tropical fruit flavors of pineapple and mango. The 2014 Sauvignon Blanc blossoms with remarkable aromatics and has a lingering finish. It pairs well with seafood and summer salads.

2013 Chardonnay, Blonde Ambition
Sonoma Valley

Two Bottles

Blonde Ambition Chardonnay is a tribute to PJ Rex, the winemaker's wife, who inspired Robert to become a winemaker. The Sobre Vista Vineyard, nestled on a Sonoma Valley hillside in Glen Ellen, was first planted here in 1873. It is an exceptional terroir for Chardonnay.

Our winemaking techniques accentuate complexity and mouth feel, so Blonde Ambition will pair with almost any food and hold you interest through the evening.

2011 Zinfandel
Sonoma Valley

Two Bottles

100% Zinfandel

Zinfandel was first planted near the town of Sonoma in 1846, at the beginning of the California wine industry. It morphed over decades to become a unique Zinfandel clone, known only in California. California Zin has now been planted in other world wine regions.

Our Sonoma Valley Zin is a blend from two vineyards, White Perry and Los Chamizal, near the first Zinfandel plantings. Robert's winemaking style, starting with the best pick date, accentuates the varietal characteristics. Robert says this is what Zinfandel is supposed to taste like; rich but not overly extracted, a berry-laden supernova of expanding flavors from the middle of your palate outward, hauntingly delicious. You will find yourself immediately wanting another sip.

The 2011 Zinfandel is an excellent food wine. Much like Pinot Noir, a medium-bodied Zin pairs with a wide variety of food, from ham sandwiches to grilled seafood and much more. This wine will delight you and your guests. Our Old Vine Zinfandel is for the end of your evening, while our Sonoma Valley Zinfandel is for the beginning of your evening.

2011 Estate Syrah
Sonoma Valley

Two Bottles

Deerfield’s Estate Syrah Vineyard surrounds the Kenwood Wetlands. This location gives the vineyard a unique terroir (sense of place). The result is the nose and the taste of Deerfield’s Syrah are more elevated than a typical Syrah. Syrah’s focus is the bottom of the palate. Our Estate Syrah lifts that profile, leaning less toward earthiness and more toward fruitiness. The flavors explode on the palate, leading to a long finish. The 2011 Estate Syrah’s pairs exceptionally well with grilled foods.

2013 Pinot Noir
Sonoma County

Two Bottles

The Russian River Valley is the most highly regarded Sonoma appellation for Pinot Noir. The soil is volcanic, mixed with soils from ancient California Redwood Forests deposited by the Russian River over eons. The summer mornings are shrouded in Pacific fog followed by brief hours of sunshine producing Pinot Noir that is elegant and complex. As a result, Pinot Noir pairs with more foods than any other varietals.
